Jean Veloz & Chazz Young
Join our friends at PBDA (Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association) Saturday night (June 9th) for a very special Swing dance honoring guests: Chazz Young, Jean Veloz, Mary Collins, Skippy Blair and more! And we'll dance to "Stompy Jones" from San Francisco! Beg. Swing Lesson 7:30-8pm, and the band plays 8-11:30pm. $20. This special night (includes the lesson plus snacks refreshments and door prizes).
ALSO NOTE: Chazz Young (a wonderful dancer from Las Vegas, and Frankie Manning's son!) will teach a ONE DAY ONLY class for us in "Swingcopations" (swing stylings) for all types of Swing. 2:30-3:30 in the afternoon on Saturday prior to the evening dance (July 9th). $15. class.

 Introducing: CHLOE & HER JAZZ MEN
Local prodigy and swing favorite - Chloe Feoranzo will be making her debut as BAND LEADER at Rusty's on Wednesday, July 13th.
Called "The Girl Goodman" by Rusty Frank, Chloe has won the hearts and dancing feet of swing dancers and musicians all throughout Southern California with her crazy-swingin' clarinet and saxophone playing.

She has set in on many sets with other bands in the past at Rusty's. But on this night she will lead the boys:

Our Swing Dance Couple:
Joseph & Kristy Celebrate 2-year Anniversary
This Wednesday.
I know we've been making quite a fun noise lately about all the couples who have met through dancing. Well, one of our happy couples is celebrating their 2-year Anniversary... and they met on the dance floor at Rusty's!
So here's another good reason to come out this Wednesday - help them celebrate.
Here's what Joseph sent in to me:
It was December 13, 2006. I was still a newbie at Swing dancing. I attended the Rhythm Club Holiday Party. This was the first time I saw Kristy, she was by the piano and was looking fabulous in her black Audrey Hepburn style dress. I asked her for a dance and she said “Yes”. Being a newbie, I did mostly basic moves but Kristy was very gracious and flashing a wonderful smile. Later that evening I saw her on the dance floor. She was dancing very well and I thought to myself, “She’s an advanced dancer! I must have wasted her time with my basic moves!” From then on, I got so intimidated that I never asked Kristy for another dance. Around November 2007, almost one year later, Emily Callahan pulled me aside asked me “How come you never dance with Kristy?” I replied, “She’s too good! I'll probably waste her time!” Emily said, “Just go and asked her!” And I did. 2008, Kristy and started dating and on July 11, 2009, we got married!

For more than twenty years now the Fort MacArthur Museum has sponsored what has turned into the west's largest multicultural celebration of world military history. What began as a small gathering of cannon enthusiasts has blossomed into a truly spectacular event showcasing the history of military activity from around the world and across time.
The hours of this years show are 10am–4pm both days. Tickets cost $10.00 per person and benefit the restoration, preservation, and education programs of the Fort MacArthur Museum. Tickets can be purchased at the front gate to the museum beginning at 10:00am on both days and as always parking is free. Food and drinks will also be available at an additional charge.

Every now and again, people just disappear from our scene who have been regular dancers.
I wonder why.
Did they get married, did they move, or did they suffer some financial hit.
If it's economics, please know that you are always welcome. Don't stay away.
We can work something out! Here's some options:
~ I am happy to work out trades... you could sit at the door for a bit at the Rhythm Club in exchange for the dance that night.
~ Find me at the Rhythm Club, and just pay what you can.
~ I'll give you some Rhythm Club passes until this era blows over for you.
~ And the same thing goes for all Lindy By The Sea classes!
I know that dancing really helps in hard times.
So don't be a stranger!
