THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND THOUGHTS

I again want to thank all of you for your thoughts for my dad and family at this time. He is doing better every day. Thank goodness, he was in great shape before his appendix burst last week. I'm sure that really has helped in his recovery. He plays paddle tennis four times a week, runs his own consulting business, and has an active social life. Keep sending those good healing thoughts his way.

DANCE-A-THON TEAM LEADER NEEDED

The 24-hour Cancer Dance-A-Thon is just around the corner. There had been some lively talk about a "Rusty's Team". Is there anyone out there who could step forward to be the team leader for this? All the details are on the Dance-A-Thon website. I know there are loads of people who would enjoy participating; they just need a little shepherd - maybe that's you.

Let me know if you are interested. rusty@rustyfrank.com

This eight-week course, developed by Rusty Frank and Ron Campbell, is designed for people who want to bring their dancing to the next level. The focus of the program is on musicality, styling, and individual development. Class size is limited to twelve students, six leaders and six followers.*

Rusty and Ron work with each of the students individually and as a group in a series of exercises and challenges. At the end of the eight week course, each student is presented with a DVD of their own dancing to track improvement and set goals for future development.

The class is held from 9-10pm on Tuesday nites, and will start on March 9th 2010. The total cost for all eight weeks of classes is $100/per student, including the personalized DVD.

"CHEAP & CHEERFUL DJ NITE" AT RUSTY'S

02-17 SPECIAL GUEST "DJ JOSE" & ROBERT "THE PROFESSOR" VANGOR

02-24 JIVE ACES PLAY FOR MY B-DAY DANCE

Sometimes a girl just get lucky -- and, boy howdy, did I get lucky this year with the Jive Aces being in town right at the time of my birthday. As they are simply one of the liveliest and most entertaining bands on planet earth, I guess I can pretty much be guaranteed a grand birthday dance. And, you'll have a GREAT time, too!

03-24 RUSTY'S 12-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
WITH GEORGE GEE FROM THE BIG APPLE

Hard to believe yet another dancing year has gone by and this is the 12-Year Anniversary of Rusty's Rhythm Club. But, yes indeed, it is! And we hit the jackpot with this one... we got George Gee all the way from the Big Apple. This is not to be missed! Mark your calendars right now and let's all celebrate together.

DOUBLEBUGB FUN

Fellows, you think you have it hard leading one girl, try leading two! That's exactly what is a competitive dance in Europe. It's called "Doublebugg" (from Jitterbug). Take a look at this super fun clip!

Here's the definition of Doublebugg on Wikipedia:

Dance detail

Doublebugg is more or less a competitive dance within the BRR dance family administered by the Swedish Dancesport Federation. The dance style has its background in another typical and invented Swedish dance style, namely Bugg. Bugg comes originally from Lindy Hop (Jitterbug).

Doublebugg is danced by three persons, especially a gentleman and two women. Variations occur however. Doublebugg is mostly performered on dance competitions, but sometimes also occurred among social dancers. The dance arose during the 80s and was due to deficiency on gentlemen wanted to dance. One found out that a gentleman could dance the Swedish partner dance Bugg with two women concurrent. Suddenly a new dance style in Sweden was invented, Doublebugg.

Today Doublebugg is a small formation dance, that is conducted of three persons. The formation of different patterns and formations, for example lines, circles, triangles are apart from changing place between the dancers, one of several main features in Doublebugg. The character is free and is retrieved from someone of the other Swedish BRR dances - Bugg, Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie and Rock and Roll (dance). A various footwear is preferred in Doublebugg and is mainly danced to modern pop or rock'n'roll music.

LOST YOUR JOB? TOOK A PAY CUT?
DON'T BE A STRANGER!
WE'LL WORK SOMETHING OUT FOR YOU

Every now and again, people just disappear from our scene who have been regular dancers. I wonder why. Did they get married, did they move, or did they suffer some financial hit.

If it's economics, please know that you are always welcome. Don't stay away. We can work something out! Here's some options:

~ I am happy to work out trades... you could sit at the door for a bit at the Rhythm Club in exchange for the dance that night.

~ Find me at the Rhythm Club, and just pay what you can.

~ I'll give you some Rhythm Club passes until this era blows over for you.

~ And the same thing goes for all Lindy By The Sea classes!

I know that dancing really helps in hard times. So don't be a stranger! We'll work it out to meet your needs.
