Back home in the damp and gloom of a typical English spring!! ...Oh for the sun and the lemon trees!
Do you ever get any rain and grotty weather? I suppose that you must do in order to have so much green around you.
I have to say once again, I had the best time ever at your club on the Wednesday night and like I say, had more dances than I would get all year. In fact with no dances so far this year in the U.K, 3 last year (old students of ours) and probably about the same for the year before....you can see why it was such a highlight and is written up in the diary as a real red letter day!!
Your students are kind, polite, generous and just too wonderful for words. Do tell them that I said so. Thank you again.
If we ever get to the big C again I know where I will be going on Wednesday evening!

APRIL 12TH REPORT FROM "CAPT FUN"
"FUN & PHILANTHROPY!"
I want to thank everyone who came last Sat. to Ruby's to help dance and spend money to support the Good Shephard Shelter. It was very much a success.
We raised $229.64 for the Shelter. I am waiting to print the pictures so that I can include them with the Check and a little note to Sister Anne.
I want everyone one to know who helped and had so much fun on Sat. You really made my ideas bloom and my work very easy.
Evadne Morakis, Brian Raley, Kimmy Morrissey, Leslie Tomlin, John Apodaca, Heather Ellison, Ryan Cooper, Laura Stella, Yves Magnier, Steven Van Der Porter, Scott Giordano, Katie Albee, Michelle, Jessica Densmore, Emily Callahan, Kristy Forsythe, Joseph Rocamora, Tony Mercuro, Debbie Wastling, Matt, Alice Infelise, Dan Danner, Dale Frank, and also those were there in spirit.
Ruby's wants to do this again so maybe sometime in Sept/Oct.
I will send pictures in another email.
Thank you again everyone, you really made this special.
DEAN COLLINS ON CALJAZZDANCE.COM Dean Collins is simply one of the most influential Lindy Hoppers ever to have lived. From the 1940's to the present, countless men have tried to emulate his style of exciting swing. Here's a chance for you to get a glimpse of his life.
what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!

BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?
Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."
THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:
1. Having fun! (Fun)
2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)
1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).
2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.
The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
