BRING ON THE MUSIC TO KEEP US DANCING
Starting THIS Wednesday at the Rhythm Club, it's the moment we've been waiting for all year -- we get to start playing all that great Holiday swing music! (notice we are the one hold-outs on the planet earth who don't start playing holiday music until AFTER Thanksgiving!).
Robert Vangor (our sensational House DJ) and I pride ourselves on our excellent collections of seasonal swing music, which include:
Let It Snow!
Hanukah In Santa Monica
We'll do our very best to keep you dancing these next weeks!
JOIN THE GREAT FOLKS AT THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB

It's called The Swing Shift Rhythm Club. Why not check it out and possibly join one of the philanthropic holiday events. Click HERE for more details.

THIS IN FROM PHILANTHROPY CHAIR -- JESSICA DENSMORE
Debbie Wastling has already scheduled and readied the Event at Mary Cr. Ctr in
Culver City. We hope to have as glowing a report and photos as last year - The
residents, somewhat quiet at first, were an enthusiastic bunch by the end of the
show. Debbie has a talent for that, as Tony has a talent for charming each lady.

REPORT ON NORWALK SENIOR CENTER EVENT
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH 2007
John Apodaca and Scott Giordano booked and planned this Event from beginning
to end. John was called by the city of Norwalk to do more than one Event in the
last few weeks, but this one was the one with photos, hopefully to be posted on
the SSRC website soon. Participants included:
John Apodaca, Scott Giordano, Tony Mercurio,
Teresa London, Katie and Julie (yes, Alzheimer's
made me forget their last names again, sorry, Ladies!!!)
The Center provided a stage, sound system, and a DJ, while
John narrated and danced, the dancers danced, the audience
applauded, and the shoppers took breaks from the Holiday
Boutique to watch and even participate. The script included
some jazz and swing history, some "swinging" tunes and a
finale which included some great "stealing" moves by the
guys for a chance to dance with Teresa. Teresa, not being in
on the plan that she was the "steal dance" star, noted later
she couldn't figure out where all the girls went.
It was a fun Event for dancers and the audience and we hope
to entertain there again.

STOP STARING -- We confess, it's definitely one of our favorite shops for vintage reproduction. And now they are having their annual Sample Sale. Girls have a great time. Fellas, time for that early shopping!
The founders of Stop Staring love the classic era and just love us swing dancers. Tell 'em "Rusty sent me."
what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!
JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?
Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."
THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:
1. Having fun! (Fun)
2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)
1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).
2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.
The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
