WOW! Wow! Wow! It's tomorrow nite. Another stellar night on hand for The Rhythm Club. Don't even think of missing it! Boy, oh, Boy, it's just gonna be great. And why? Because you'll be there to add to the excitement. Here's what we've got in store:

    - THE RHYTHM CLUB ALL-STARS!
      - SHOUT 'N FEEL IT!
        - LEVEL 1 DEBUT!

Join us for another nite for the books at Rusty's Rhythm Club.

SHOUT 'N FEEL IT

If The Rhythm Club All-Stars were not enough to lure you to the club next week, then surely Shout 'n Feel It are! This outstanding performance team comes to us all the way from Sweden. They will be putting on a dance show during the band break (some time between 9:30-10:00pm). Just as their name says, you will -- shout and feel it!

LEVEL 1 DEBUT RHYTHM CLUB OUTING

Our July Level 1 class will be coming in force to the Rhythm Club on July 18th. This will be their first group outing to the club, and they are looking forward (with the same excitement/fear/enthusiasm you felt on your first time out) to meeting and dancing with all of you.

By the way, this is our biggest Level 1 class since January!!! Thank you, each and every one of you, for sending them our way and helping to keep swing dancing alive and kicking.

Scrapbook up! Click HERE.

RHYTHM CLUB ALL-STARS

Look at this amazing line-up debuting at The Rhythm Club this Wednesday*:

Daniel Glass, Drums - Royal Crown Revue
John Reynolds, Guitar -Dean Mora Orchestra
John Hatton, Bass - Brian Setzer Orchestra
Corey Gemme, Cornet - Trad Jazz All Stars

When I asked Daniel what kind of music they'll be playing (as they play Classic Swing to Neo Swing), he replied "The best of swing standards from the golden era of jazz."

Wow! Wow! Wow!

*These players are featured musicians with many bands and orchestras, but we thought you might recognize these listings especially.

See you on the dance floor!

SHOUT 'N FEEL IT

Let this file load,
the dancing starts around 50 seconds into the clip.

Take a look at this amazing performance troupe from Sweden that will be performing at Rusty's Rhythm Club tomorrow nite, July 18th. They are joined by Barcelona JazzCats in Barcelona. Hang on to your hats!

A NOTE FROM GUNILLA -- FORMER LINDY BY THE SEA STUDENT
A NEW FOLLOWER IN NORWAY

Hi Rusty,

Nice to see that Ron and Robin had a new little lead. Please send them my congratulations.

Me and »yvind worked really hard to increase the number of Lindy Hoppers in Norway so on May 19 at 17.30 we got a little follow called Frida (of course named after Frida Segerdahl in Harlem Hotshots). She is 4 days old on the picture and about 3 kg in weight.

Take care

Gunilla

We have script, MC, singers. Now need equal leads, follows plus a DJ. Email me if you can dance for these lovely people on Saturday, July 21, 2007, 2pm-3pm.

John Apodaca's niece runs the Recreation Dept. at this retirement center and has asked us to return. They had a ball last time and were highly received so let's try again and bring our music and dancing mayhem to those who don't get out much. Cool summer vintage attire is appreciated!

We need dancers for this beautiful facility. Their Recreation Room has a beautiful stage and sound system and the residents will just have finished their enthusiastic round of Bingo. Last time we were here some of the residents even danced with us. Arrrive about 3:00PM and dress vintage or vintage Hawaiian if you can.

* Wondering what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!

JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."

THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:

1. Having fun! (Fun) 2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)

1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).

2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.

The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
