JEAN VELOZ

SPECIAL GUEST
LEGENDARY "GODDESS" OF SWING

***********************

FILM CREW FROM 'LIVING LIVE' ON HAND TO RECORD IT ALL

IT'S TOMORROW -- WOW!

I can't believe it's tomorrow, and I can't believe all the fun we have in store! It's just gonna be one of those nights. I'll be surprised if the roof doesn't fly right off the building -- with all that hot music & hot feet burnin' up the joint!

To have Jean Veloz, my personal swing idol stepping in... well, what can I say. I'm just about speechless.

I am so thrilled to have George Gee making his first stop of his west coast tour at our Rhythm Club. (And what's especially nice is, so is he!).

The Hollywood Hornets (featuring our very own Ron Campbell) will be performing their brand new number, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," during the band's break. They're the THREE TIME National Jitterbug Champs!

And, don't forget, we'll have the film crew from "Living Live" on hand. They promised to stay out of the way of our dancing and still get some good shots. They'll also want to do a few interviews with those hepcats 55+.

Giving it his own brand of 'pep, vim, and verve' is Master of Ceremonies Maxwell DeMille. He'll be reading telegrams from all over the world, including one from Frankie Manning, himself!

We're gonna be opening the club a little earlier than usual (7:30) so if you want to warm up those feet, you're welcome to. Our wonderful Rhythm Club DJ -- The Professor will be there for your dancing pleasure!

AND, of course, there will be CAKE!

Make sure and dress up (vintage, vintage-inspired is always nice)!

GEORGE GEE -- Take a moment and read all about our very special guest band for tomorrow nite. There's loads to see and hear! Here's a snippet from his bio page: "The only Chinese-American Swing big band leader, George Gee is unique in so many ways. The snap in his fingers, the shuffle in his step and that unbridled joy he radiates and spreads like ecstatic wildfire to all his world-class musicians make immediate and permanent impressions on audiences, musicians, and dancers - even seasoned press! It must be in his blood since he was a kid, all George ever wanted to do was lead his own big band."

Swing Shift
www.rustyfrank.com

* Wondering what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!

JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."

THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:

1. Having fun! (Fun) 2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)

1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).

2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.

The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.

"How do I join?"...
Right now, fill in your email address
