~ Benny Goodman

What an event. And aren't we lucky to have it right in our own backyard.
Dozens of us Lindy By The Sea-ers were there max-ing out our brains and frying our feet with a weekend full of Balboa classes with some of the greatest instructors from around the world. In the evenings we mustered up any remaining strength to enjoy the fabulous bands playing for the 400+ international crowd.
The "International Balboa Contest" was phen-om-enal! Kudos to those spectacular dancers -- you just amaze and thrill us.

WOMAN SUES FOR 'NEGILENT DANCING'
CHICAGO RESIDENT CLAIMS MAN DROPPED HER ON HER HEAD
April 3, 2007
CHICAGO - A Chicago woman is suing a man she claims flipped her into the air and dropped her on her head in a jitterbug-style dance move at a company event.
Lacey Hindman, 22, seeks damages for medical bills and lost wages for time missed from work in a suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
In the suit, Hindman claims that in April 2006, David Prange grabbed her by the forearms and tossed her in the air before she crashed into the wood floor at Stanley's Kitchen and Tap on the city's North Side. The incident allegedly took place at a mandatory work event.
Story continues below advertisement
"I was in the air, over him," Hindman said. "I fell hard enough you could hear the impact of me hitting the floor over the sound from the jukebox."
Hindman said she suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries.
Her attorney David M. Baum said Prange should be accountable for the alleged injuries caused by "negligent dancing."
SAN LUIS OBISPO LINDY EXCHANGE -- Lindy Exchanges are one of the most fun activities of our national scene. Here's one coming up that's just a car ride away. Why not consider it? They're always a blast!
what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!
JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?
Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."
THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:
1. Having fun! (Fun)
2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)
1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).
2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.
The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
