THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING!
THE JIVE ACES AND THEIR SWING BRAND OF MAYHEM
AT RUSTY'S RHYTHM CLUB FEB. 7TH!
Yes, those crazy Jives are coming back for their once-a-year visit to Rusty's Rhythm Club -- DON'T MISS IT!!! For those of you who have already seen these six wacky Brits, you know what you're in store for. For those of you who haven't, you are in for a real treat! Acknowledged as the most entertaining swing group on the planet earth, these fellows bring back the era of the 1940's and 1950's when bands not only played solid-sending music, but entertained the masses with their high energy performances. And this is always our most popular nite of the year... so, honestly, DON'T MISS IT!
To make it extra special, we'll have Maxwell DeMille, our impresario extraordinaire, on hand to M.C. the evening's delights! (Make sure to check out his April 1st event -- click HERE -- his annual 39th Birthday Party at Cicada Club -- more to follow on that.)

FEBRUARY FEATURED CLASS
1920'S PARTNERED CHARLESTON
Lindy Hop had two major influences in it's early days, and one of the biggest is our February Featured Class -- Charleston. Yep, that dance craze from the 1920's. Swing dancers have always enjoyed putting a bit of this in their dancing, and in the past few years, like Balboa and Collegiate Shag, 1920's Partnered Charleston has had a big resurgence.
This class open to ALL LEVELS!

WHITEY'S LINDY HOPPERS -- ARCHIVES OF EARLY LINDY HOP -- This site is one of perennial favorites, as it is a treasure trove of swing dance historical information AND a shop at which to purchase swing related goodies -- including archival dance clips! Judy Pritchett runs the site, and she's definitely a dancer's friend!
what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!
JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?
Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."
THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:
1. Having fun! (Fun)
2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)
1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).
2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.
The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
