DANCE THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS!
RHYTHM CLUB HOLIDAY PARTY
DECEMBER 20TH & 27TH OPENING FOR DANCING!
It's December, and we are now officially in the holiday season. For us dancers, it's a great chance to dance a little more and dress up! Our annual Holiday Party is December 13, and as part of our Rhythm Club tradition, this dance is "formal". That's right, you can dress up as much as you want... gowns, tails, tuxedos. In this casual Los Angeles culture, it's nice to have an excuse to really dress up.
Because of unanimous demand, we will be having our Rhythm Club all through the holidays. It's a first for us, and we hope you'll enjoy coming out dancing on December 20th and 27th, in between all your eating! and sitting! and vegging! to get some good dances in with your dance pals. Robert Vangor, "The Professor", supplies the music... you supply the feet!
It's been far too long since we offered our "Taste of Dance" workshop, and we thought it would be a perfect way to end 2006! In this workshop, we teach a "taste" of popular Ballroom dances, such as Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Salsa, Polka, and Waltz. Next time a non-swing song comes on, you'll know what to do!
This workshop will be taught by all three Rhythm Pals -- Rusty, Gio, AND Ron!

"SWEETHEARTS OF SWING"
RETIRING FROM THE RHYTHM CLUB
Nathan and Crystal's last official nite at the Rhythm Club as our early bird djs and helpers will be this Wednesday. Nathan got a promotion at Disneyland, so won't be able to get to the club early anymore. Nathan started with us in 2000! And he's been our Early Bird DJ for five years. He met the lovely Crystal at Disneyland, and they were recently married.
Nathan and Crystal have become a Rhythm Club fixture, helping to set up the club each week, and providing the music for the first part of the evening.
They will be dearly missed.
We wish you all the best, Nathan and Crystal!

CALLING ALL BOYS!
FOR TUESDAY'S TRACK SERIES
As sometimes happens to us, we have a few more followers than leaders (actually there was one leader and nine followers!). The girls hate it, as they end up standing all alone (violins, please) for quite a bit of the class.
Our need is Tuesday's The Track Series.
8:30 -- FEATURED CLASS: CHARLESTON VARIATIONS
9:30 -- EXTRA BONUS CLASS: BALBOA - ONGOING
Yes, you read right. We are offering, not only Charleston Variations as our upcoming Featured Class, but also one extra class in Ongoing Balboa. Take a look at the schedule below and pre-register HERE.

RHYTHM CLUB REGULAR HIT WITH RELAPSE OF CANCER
YOU CAN HELP
One of our Swing Dancers, Tamie Hall, is going to have a repeat of Chemo/Radiation
Therapy ahead of her. Jessica Densmore, June Hamilton, and more than half a dozen others have planned
to present her with a "gift box" full of little cards and gifts, uplifting and humorous, for
her to open every day so she will have the concept of being thought of daily without
being overwhelmed. Her immune system is low so she has to limit her visitors; June
is her contact person. If you would like to bring something for Tamie this Wednesday
at the Rhythm Club we will have a collection box by the piano near the bar. Don't
think of expensive or fancy - just humble and loving, as she is.
BLAIR TINDALL'S FATHER PASSES
Rhythm Club regular, Blair Tindall, lost her father this weekend. She'll be heading back east for the funeral soon. Her father was a fascinating man, and you can read about him HERE. All our sympathies, Blair.

STREETSWING -- HISTORY OF THE CHA CHA -- Get ready for this Sunday's workshop and learn all about the Cha Cha on this site!
what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!
JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?
Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."
THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:
1. Having fun! (Fun)
2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)
1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).
2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.
The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
