WHAT IS THE MASTER TRACK?

Rusty and Ron now have a series for those who want to take their dancing to the next level. The course, entitled "The Master Track - It's All About You" is limited to twelve students. The June-July series is fully booked, but we are already taking reservations for September-October.

The eight-week course focuses on your own dancing. Each week, Rusty and Ron will be working with each of the students individually and as a group in a series of exercises and challenges. The students will be video taped each week, the tapes will be studied as a group (in Lindy By The Sea's traditional upbeat, encouraging, and friendly environment) to examine individual areas of goals and progress. At the end of the eight week course, each student is presented with a dvd of their own dancing to track improvement and continue with on-going skills.

This course will start up every eight weeks. The total cost for all eight classes, and the dvd is $100/per student, and includes a personal dvd of your work throughout the course. What a value!

DANCERS NEEDED!

I got this letter, read it, and if you're interested, contact Suzanne at suzanne@imaginefestival.com!

Hi Rusty,

The reason I'm emailing is I have a great show to tell you about and I'd love to get commitments from some a few fancy dancers to be there if that's possible.

Pacific Chorale, the wonderful choir I work for currently, is holding their Season Opening concert, Fanfare for a New Era, Sunday, October 22 at 5:30 pm at the heralded RenŽe and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. To celebrate, we're throwing a Party in the Plaza outside the new concert hall with James Intveld's Swing Sinners. I'd love to have around 4 to 6 very good dancing couples open the floor the moment people walk out the door of the hall. I can think of no better way to get people excited about the rest of the evening!

The Swing Sinners are one of my favorites. There'll be no-host (cash) bars and a 30' x 30' dance floor, not to mention beautiful lighting and seating all around the plaza. It's open to all ticket holders -- the Chorale is all about inclusiveness -- It's going to be a beautiful event.

The new hall was front page news when it opened a few weeks ago with Placido Domingo -- we sang at that concert too. So Amazing! The hall has incredible acoustics -- it's going to be known as one of the best halls in the country.

Do you know anyone who might want to show some fancy footwork? Dress is important too, since people will be pretty dressed up for this event.

I can offer free tickets to the concert for up to 12 good dancers, if they'd like to attend the concert. It's a great bargain! Tickets run from $25 to $140. We're performing Mozart, Handel, Brahms, and two fantastic world premieres, one of which is called "Seeking Higher Ground, Bruce Springsteen Rocks New Orleans April 30, 2006" -- and it's going to blow the roof off the place!

If dancers you know would like to come just to dance, they are welcome to show up at 7:00, tell an usher they're a dancer, and they can join in for free.

Box dinners / appetizers are available by preorder for $18 or $26.

People who can commit to coming to dance can email me at suzanne@pacificchorale.org and I'll make sure the ushers are aware.

If you'd like more info, check out http://www.pacificchorale.org. For pictures of the new hall, click: http://www.ocpac.org/

Thank you very much for any help in spreading the word!

Best wishes Suzanne

LINDY HOP FOR LIFE - DANCE-A-THON -- The Dance-a-thon is a 24 hour swing dance in Irvine, CA intended to raise funds for the City of Hope Hospital. All of the participants, board members, bands, teachers, dj's and performers are volunteers. The venue is donated by the Boys and Girls Club of Irvine. The dates are 10am Saturday Nov. 11th - 10am Sunday Nov. 12th, 2006

Last year swing dancers raised over $52,000, an impressive number for any first year charity event. This year our goal is $100,000.

We've got loads of dancers participating, and yours truly is teaching one of the classes -- "Tap Dancing For Lindy Hoppers".

We are also be doing a bit of fundraising at the Rhythm Club Wednesday, October 18th, for the Dance-A-thon. (Stay tuned for more details.)

* Wondering what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast). Basically, we swing like a gate!

JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."

THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:

1. Having fun! (Fun) 2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)

1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).

2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.

The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
