JEAN VELOZ IS A GODDESS -- NOW EVERYONE KNOWS
Jean Veloz, the sensational!, surrounded by Lindy By The Sea workshop participants
A great time was had by all at our first ever "Jean & Dean Styling Workshop." Everyone fell in love with our local legend, Jean Veloz. Her grace, style, upbeat personality were contagious, and everyone caught "Jean fever"! She makes it all look so easy, and we girls were slapped back to reality when we tried to do her styling. Oye! That's what makes an artist -- the hide the hard work behind their artistry.
The boys enjoyed learning Dean Collins styling from Ron Campbell, and it was easy to see that had an equal challenge as the girls.
We also were delight with a little Jean Q & A.
She is some special gal and we can't wait to see her again.
I was quite the shutterbug and have posted pictures on our scrapbook page, so click HERE.
Students gather in rapt attention to hear Jean Veloz' stories.

BLUE TRACK AND FEATURED CLASS
JEAN & DEAN WORKSHOP REVIEW.... AND SOCIABLE DIPS AND TRICKS
The "Jean & Dean Styling" workshop was such a hit, everyone asked us to use the material for our May Featured Class. So, for those of you who were at the workshop, you'll get a great review, and for those who couldn't make it, you'll get to learn the material from us (we know, not quite the same as learning it from a living legend, but maybe we're living legends in the making -- hee hee).
Of course, we weren't satisfied with just the review, so we will be adding one-two sociable dips and tricks in each lesson. Woo hoo! (You don't need a partner, these will all be sociable moves that you could do with anyone on the dance floor.)
Make sure to take advantage of our pre-registration discounts online:
If you are a QuickStop card holder, just shoot me an email before class on Tuesday, or you can always just give me a call and register over the phone: 310 606 5606.
"THE MASTER TRACK -- IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!"
NEW 8-WEEK SERIES WITH RUSTY AND RON STARTS MAY 30TH (JUNE-JULY SERIES)
LIMITED ENROLLMENT -- RESERVE YOUR SPOT FOR JUNE-JULY SERIES
Rusty and Ron now have a series for those who want to take their dancing to the next level. The course, entitled "The Master Track - It's All About You" is limited to twelve students. The April-May series is fully booked, but we are already taking reservations for June-July.
The eight-week course focuses on your own dancing. Each week, Rusty and Ron will be working with each of the students individually and as a group in a series of exercises and challenges. The students will be video taped each week, the tapes will be studied as a group (in Lindy By The Sea's traditional upbeat, encouraging, and friendly environment) to examine individual areas of goals and progress. At the end of the eight week course, each student is presented with a dvd of their own dancing to track improvement and continue with on-going skills.
If you would like to reserve your spot, email us asap: email@example.com
This course will start up every eight weeks. The total cost for all eight classes, and the dvd is $100/per student, and includes a personal dvd of your work throughout the course. What a value!
Here's the first Master Track, 2006. They surprised us by dressing up for their final class.

TAUGHT BY PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS RON CAMPBELL & RUSTY FRANK
Many swing dancers are drawn into the dance because they one day hope to do those flying aerials (that's how I started!). They look so fun, and they are so fun. However, they take a lot of work and need to be done safely. So we are starting off our first '06 Aerial Workshop with introductory aerials that the average fit dancer can do.
Ron and Rusty are no different. AND they have studied with the world's leading instructors of this specific swing dance genre. They focus on safety first. Just as in their classes, you will be taken step by step through the elements of each of these aerials. (Of course, you will then have to practice these after the workshop to perfect them!)
You will need a partner for this workshop, as we will not be rotating. Find someone you are very comfortable with and is a good match in weight and height for this kind of activity.
Please use your own good judgement as far as your fitness level. Feel free to ask us (me and Ron) whether or not this workshop is a good choice for you.
And, if you have any concern,m consider doing just some of the moves taught int he workshop.
Bottom line, it's gonna be safe and were gonna have a blast!
So mark your calendars now -- Sunday May 21st, 11am-1pm.

SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB ENTERTAINS AT LITTLE COMPANY OF MARY
Here's a summary of a recent event by our Swing Shift Rhythm Club by Good Deed Coordinator Jessica Densmore:
Looks like the photographers beat me to the punch with our Event
photos again. Catherine took photos and posted with the help of Norm
Kajikawa; Tami Mancini also took photos and may also need his help to
Our participants included Debbie Wastling and her 2 stars (one of
whom is also an excellent swing dancer we found out!) from the
Musical Gypsy (which played at the Hermosa Playhouse over the
weekend); Catherine "Captain Fun" Sayre, newcomer Carmeta Sturdivant,
Peter Livingston, Tony Mercuro, Tami and Jerry Mancini (Tami also
took photos - perhaps Norm can help her post them too?), Scott
Giordano, Ron Ogren, John Kanaster, Roy Samson, Kate Carline (of the
Little Company of Mary Association) and Jessica Densmore.
We took advantage of our Bonus Men and had them dance with members of
the audience, as well as demonstrate savoy and hollywood style swing
dance. Debbie's musical students/stars sang selections for
our "History of Swing Music and Dance" script which brought applause
from the audience. Carmeta and Kate were able to practice their
newfound swing dance skills; Debbie and Roy demonstrated admirable
Balboa and Fast Lindy skills; Peter and Tony, Tami and Jerry, Scott,
Ron and John were wonderful sports in our Steal Dance (Ladies'
Afterwards the Facility treated us to cookies, fruit punch and hot
chocolate and we were able to chat with members of the audience,
including staff and one of the Sisters.
We thank Activity Coordinator, Bing (yes, as in Crosby), for
allowing us to visit and look forward to another Event here soon.
