TEACHING TAP DANCING IN BERGEN, NORWAY! THAT'S WHERE
If it's Tuesday, it must be Belgium... or Norway, if you're a certain tap teacher by the name of Frank, Rusty (or Lasty Flank, if it's Japan). Yep, I'm in Norway now, and certainly having a wonderful time. I can't wait to tell you all about it with words and pictures. If I know me, I'm madly snapping away.
I've just been in England, Bristol to be exact for the past few days, and now the tap dancing week begins. I am teaching in a couple of private schools this week and then on the weekend there is a sort of a kinda "Rusty Weekender" here in Bergen.
I'll be back next week, just in time for a good long snooze and foot soak!
Hope of all of you have been having a great time! Thanks again to everyone back home who is helping hold down the home front! You guys are all the greatest.
THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY AND I'M STILL WORRIED THAT EVERYONE KNOWS...
THAT THE RHYTHM CLUB IS AT REBEKAH LODGE THIS WEEK!
That's right, as our Rhythm Club floor is being completely removed and a new one installed, this week we will hold our dance at Rebekah Lodge (our Sunday and Tuesday class location). This is a dj dance and is only $5.00. So come one and come all and dance your tootsies off in El Segundo.
Meanwhile, have a great couple of weeks, and I'll look forward to hearing all about it upon my return. And HUGE thanks to all of you are helping in my absence.
And, YES, I will take plenty of pictures!
BOWLING SHIRT UPDATE
The Bowling shirts are IN IN IN!!! And Jamie's got 'em! He'll be bringing them to the Rhythm Club tomorrow night and also to classes. If you still owe for them, bring your check along ($40 payable to "Rusty Frank") and he'll swap that for your shirt. They look great, and I have a feeling we might just be doing another order soon as people are already eyeing them enviously.
Thanks to a new student recommendation, I now have my own "domain" -- "RustyFrank.com". For those of you who have trouble remember the complete name "SwingShiftOnTap.com"... here's something much easier, AND it brings you right to our site! Thanks to the entrepid Stanley Sheff, aka Maxwell DeMille, for making all this possible -- webhost extrodinaire.
PRACTICE SESSION FOR DEAN COLLINS SHIM SHAM
TUESDAY AT 7:00-7:30PM
If you would like to get in a little extra practice for The Dean Collins Shim Sham, come along to the Rebekah Lodge Tuesday at 7:00pm. Norman and Jamie will have opened up the room for you prior to the 7:30pm class start time.
WE'RE GETTING A NEW FLOOR AT THE RHYTHM CLUB!
That's right! Only a year and one half since the water damage incident at the Elk's Lodge, we are going to be getting a brand new dance floor. Can you imagine what this means?! A dance floor just for us. Perfect for dancing. It's going to be completely supervised and put in by our very own Michael D'Angelo. He's the best. And we're the luckiest.
However, it does mean that we're going to have to move around for a few weeks and maybe even be "dark" a week or two. But the end result will be worth it. Stay tuned for further announcements and more good news. Here's the schedule:

RETRO-FOLKWEAR: Okay, this is quite swell! You can actually go to this website and order vinatage authentic patterns. Imagine, making (or having some one make for you) an amazing vintage pattern. Doesn't get much better than this. Hurrah for the people who collected all these patterns.
what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast).
JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?
Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."
THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:
1. Having fun! (Fun)
2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)
1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).
2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.
The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.
