SWING IS BACK!

I just can't get over it... for the third month in a row we had a jammed-packed Sunday filled with new students. It's fantastic. Usually the trend is a big January class ("The New Years Resolution Class") and then it tapers off. But, so far 2005 has shown to be our strongest year since the late '90s! Swing is back and going strong.

I want to personally welcome all our new students, and I know I am joined by all our Lindy By The Sea family of students. We are so happy you have joined us; it just means that our favorite pastime will last that much longer.

We invite you to join us tonite at the Rhythm Club, our weekly swing dance. You couldn't hope for a friendlier and more welcoming crowd of dancers. Don't be shy, don't worry, just come out tonight and have a grand time. Not only do we have a Big Band (!!!!), a great big dance floor (solid oak and 2,800 sq ft), all-ages, but we also love to dance with beginners to help them get over and through that "first time jitters."

Come and join us tonight at Rusty's Rhythm Club. We can't wait to dance with you.

RUSTY ON TLC TODAY AT 1:00PM, SET THE VCRS
A Wedding Story Heather & Mike

Last year, I worked with a wedding couple who was being followed around by TLC (The Learning Channel), and the camera crew actually squeezed into my studio filming their dance lesson with me. I haven't seen it yet, but I imagine you'll see glimpses of me "reacting" wildly.

"Heather met Mike when she auditioned to be a back-up singer in his band, and it wasn't long before casual flirting at rehearsals evolved into something much more. Following a romantic seaside proposal, they've planned a rock-n-roll wedding near the beach."

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARTY AT THE RHYTHM CLUB
MARCH 16TH

SPECIAL GUEST VIBRAPHONIST -- BRIAN ATKINSON

It's a dream come true for Rusty. She's been trying to get her favorite Swing vibes player, Brian Atkinson, into the Rhythm Club for over a year. And now, playing with Jumpin' Joz, Atkinson will be making his debut Wednesday, March 16th. Atkinson is no stranger to The Rhythm Club, he's been playing their for years -- though with trumpet. For any Disneyland fans out there, you will also recognize him from one of the Park's most long-time musicians.

Not only will Brian be making his vibe's debut, but it will also be a Rhythm Club first -- swing vibes. You'll see why Rusty worked so hard on this one.

Thank you all once again for supporting live music. You're the BEST!

THE FISHKO FILES: Once again our very own Rusty Frank was interviewed for radio. This time the New York City station WNYC by Sara Fishko. Fishko's show is called "The Fishko Files" and is super fun. You might want to check out, not only Rusty's appearance on the "Tap" show, but also the "Scat" program. P.S. All the old tap records you hear on the program are from Rusty's personal collection!

FISHKO FILES Tap February 11, 2005

In the old days, there was one thing every entertainer HAD to know how to do. As Sara Fishko tells us, percussive dancing, or tap, has a special place in showbiz history.

Swing Shift
www.swingshiftontap.com

* Wondering what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast).

JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."

THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:

1. Having fun! (Fun) 2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)

1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).

2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.

The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.

"How do I join?"...
Right now, fill in your email address
and click the Yahoo log (that's it!):

Subscribe to SwingShiftRhythmClub

Then you will receive updates of activities (or you can organize one yourself!). Check the yahoogroup "Swing Shift Rhythm Club" calendar here for postings of upcoming events.

Join us in making the world a better place through dancing!

Thank you for joining!
