MOVIE NITE THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9TH

Mark you calendars for a SSRC Movie Nite. If "Shall We Dance" is still playing, we'll go see that. If not, we'll go see "Polar Express", which has many of our swing and tap buddies as models! Just mark the date for now, and we'll find out what is still playing and where.

JOIN THE FUN!
BUT, WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

Many of you still don't know about our Swing Shift Rhythm Club. It's one of our best kept secrets. Now is the time to get the SSRC "above the radar."

THE SWING SHIFT RHYTHM CLUB (SSRC), founded in 2000 by Rusty Frank's swing dance students, The SSRC has two missions:

1. Having fun! (Fun) 2. Doing good deeds! (Philanthropy)

1. Having fun: Events where swing dancers can socialize and get to know each other outside of class (vintage clothes shopping, going to a dance-related movie, dancing in the park, eating at retro restaurants before a dance, etc.).

2. Doing good deeds: Events where we bring swing dancing to hospitals, senior homes, and community events for the purpose of good deeds, entertainment, and education in the Los Angeles area.

The SSRC is a volunteer club open to the public and the events are organized by its members. There are no dues. Members can attend as many or as few events as they wish.

"How do I join?"...
Right now, fill in your email address
and click the Yahoo log (that's it!):

Then you will receive updates of activities (or you can organize one yourself!). Check the yahoogroup "Swing Shift Rhythm Club" calendar here for postings of upcoming events.

Join us in making the world a better place through dancing!

Thank you for joining!

Besame -- 1940's Makeup!: Okay boys, I know you're thinking, "Makeup! Why is Rusty doing makeup as the link of the week?" Well... the holidays are upon us, and I thought you might like help in some ideas. This is a brand new line of makeup that is truly 1940's inspired. It's gorgeous in every way. The creator is Gabriela Hernandez, and like your fearless leader here, she is truly "vintage inspired." She got sick and tired of plastic this and plastic that, and so went into her collection of vintage compacts and powders, brought them to the right people to have them duplicated new!

I've been experimenting with her line, and I couldn't be more thrilled. The look is vintage perfect! Both the packaging and the wear.

Note: I just got off the phone with Gabriela, and we have set up a Lady's Styling Day for around Valentine's. So mark your calendar now, ladies for a "1940's Vintage Hair and Makeup Day" -- February 12th, noon-4:00pm.

Swing Shift
www.swingshiftontap.com

* Wondering what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast).

Our Swing Shift Rhythm Club (SSRC) is the volunteer arm of our local swing dance community. Through the SSRC, we visit senior homes, children hospitals, and entertain and dance at street fairs. The purpose of the club is to do some good deeds and promote the fun of swing dancing.

Anyone can join the club. The events are varied, and purely volunteer in nature. You'll get a notice through the SSRC Yahoo Group website of upcoming events, and you can chose which one(s) you'd like to attend.
