be themselves in their art.
NEW SERIES OFF TO A GREAT START!
Our July series is off to a GREAT start!!! Sunday classes were full of enthusiastic beginners, and our Monday Balboa class was packed to the rafters. Hooray!!! Eveeryone was really enthusiastic about the new Monday location -- the historic El Segundo Masonic Lodge; so it looks like a keeper.

Laughlin Lindy Dance camp is comin' up this August. Rusty'll be on hand
as one of the teachers (wait till you see the list of instructors!). We
already have twenty people signed up just from our classes and club! Come
along and let's get a really BIG group!
This camp is probably the most "affordable" of all the swing dance camps, and includes transportation, three nights in hotel, three meals, all classes and dances! Why don't we see if we can get a Lindy By The Sea gang for this one. Email: email@example.com, call 310-530-0500, or check out their website HERE. Tell them, "Rusty sent me".
Beach Concerts in the Park series is an annual, Summer-long event held each
year at Polliwog Park. It runs from the last week in June, through Labor
Day weekend, and has featured such artists as the Doo-Wah Riders, Lisa Haley
and the Zydekats, and the Fab Four, as well as a host of other talented musicians.
Rusty and Rhythm Pal Gio have been invited to teach a beginner's swing class at the July 20th event. So why not make that the one day that we'll ALL show up! So bring a picnic and join the fun. By the way, we always have a good showing of swing dancers at the dates with swing dance-able music!
Concerts run from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. For information, call 310-802-5400 Here's their schedule of concerts that might be fun for swing dancing:
June 22: Hyperion Outfall Serenaders -- Dixieland
June 29: Scot Bruce -- Elvis
July 20: Jumpin' Joz -- Swing ** WE'LL BE THERE!!!
August 3: Orchestra Charangoa -- Cuban Jazz
Check out their website HERE
If any of you would like to have a private swing dance lesson,

HARVEST MOON BALLThe Harvest Moon Ball was one of the biggest and most popular dance competitions our country has ever known. It was held in Madison Square Garden, right in the middle of Manhattan, NYC. It featured competitions in the major ballroom dances of the day, and one of the most exciting highpoints of the event was the LINDY HOP DIVISION. Wow! Did that stop the show every time. This website takes you through many of the Harvest Moon Ball years, complete with photographs fascinating historical information. Here's one for you -- Ed Sullivan was one of the popular emcees of the event! How about that?!
* Wondering what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast).
