TASTE OF DANCE IS HERE!!!!
THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 22, 2003
WITH RUSTY & HER RHYTHM PALS -

RETROGLIDE'S JERRY AND CHANDLER

It's finally here. That's right, THIS Saturday is our Taste of Dance workshop. As Mary Anthony said above, "Don't miss it"! We're so excited to be having Jerry Jordan and Chandler Smith over from Retroglide Dance Society as our featured guests. For those of you who were at The Rhythm Club last week, you got to see Jerry whirl Rusty around the floor in a sensational Fox Trot ("And take it from me, if I can Fox Trot, anyone can!! Wheeeeee!!!" --Rusty)

We've had a good pre-registration on this workshop. Thanks to everyone on that. But if you would still like to attend, give a call to 310-606-5606, and we'll sign you up. You can also sign up right on our website.

See you there! AND REMEMBER, THIS ONE'S AT OUR WORKSHOP LOCATION -- REBEKAH LODGE. 406 E. Grand, El Segundo.

LAST WEEK AT THE RHYTHM CLUB
RON'S BIRTHDAY AND THE FABULOUS CRAZY SOCK CONTEST!

L-R: B-Day boy Ron Campbell dances with "Bandana Girl" Christy, the Crazy Sock Competitors!

WOW! What a fun night at the Rhythm Club last week. Rhythm Pal Ron's birthday celebration with the first annual Crazy Sock Contest was a sure-fire hit. Ron got to dance with all the girlies and some of the boysies on his personal birthday dance.

Click HERE to see a movie of Ron's birthday dance.

The Judges and the Winners!
L-R: Joanell, Blake, Sarah, Robin, Mae-Lae, Rudy, Jason

The Crazy Sock Contest had scores of competitors, but the winners certainly "stood" out (yucka yucka yucka) with their outstanding (sorry) socks. Our judges were The Rhythm Wives -- Mae-Lae and Robin, and the winners were:

Women's: Joanell Connolly
Men's: Blake Mellor
Best Stripey: Sarah Ayers
Best Crazy Sock Presentation: Rudy Hall and Jason Taylor

RUSTY & CHESTER AT THE ARGYLE
SOME HOME MOVES

Last week we reported on Rusty's performance at the Argyle, but this week we've got some sound motion pictures for you! Yes, through the advances in modern technology, you can see pictures that actually move. (Oops, thought I was back in time again...)

Special thanks to Gregory Gast for getting these clips all ready for your entertainment pleasure!

Miss Rusty tappy-toes from the jam session.

Rusty & Greg dancing down the stairs
(and generally being silly) at the Argyle.

Here's some more photos from that evening of swell entertainment and dance, and apparently limbo contests! (photos courtesy of Joya Balfour and Alex Vasallo)

Tap dance jam session with Gregory Gast, Rusty, Chester Whitmore, Bobby Baron, and Jeff Beauregard

Limbo! Holding the bar Tosin and Mr. DeMille, L-R: Joya Balfour, Allan Hall, and "Mrs Rhythm Wive" Robin Campbell showin' her flexibility!

Our very own Rich and Liora step out! And Robin with Empresario Maxwell DeMille.

Rusty & Chester Whitmore "Tops in Taps" dance the Shim Sham and the B.S. Chorus.

PRIVATES WITH RUSTY

If any of you would like to have a private swing dance lesson, give Rusty a call at 310.606.5606.

* * * * LINK OF THE WEEK * * * *

SWING CENTRAL RUSSIA: It's everywhere! That's right. Swing dancing is everywhere including Russia. This website was put up for your perusing pleasure by Rusty's friend Megan Virtanen. She's the vintage gal whom Rusty met last year in St. Petersberg. And what a fun website this is. Although the text comes across in jibberish (unless you have a Russian reader), the links are terrific. There are some movies, great band links (including our own Bill Elliott), and clothing links. Have fun with this one. You never know when you might find yourself in Russia, and now you'll know where to go dancing!

See you on the dancefloor!

*Wondering what the heck a "gate" is?  This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program.  It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast).
