QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Anyone who masters the dances takes on a certain confident feeling in time, after exercising great patience in practice. With this confidence, the happy pupil radiates a new magnetic personality...."
--Ned Wayburn, 1925

We are so excited to be bringing another live band to the Rhythm Club this week,
and what a band it is!!! Local jazz guitar prodigy Jonathan Stout and his amazing
Campus Five band will be with us, providing great music for dancing all night long!
And none other than Hilary Alexander, she of Camp Hollywood fame, provides the vocals!
8:00-11:30pm -- Dance! Dance! Dance! SEE YOU THERE!
SEE YOU THERE!
AND Save the date -- guest dj:
TONIGHT!! TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH!
Yes, indeed, you have a great opportunity to catch Rusty and Peter performing a
rarely-seen act at the swankiest joint in Los Angeles -- Maxwell's At The Argyle!
TONIGHT, Tuesday (not the usual Monday night, mind you...) Maxwell DeMille is
opening his venue to help celebrate the 40th birthday of one of Southern
California's most beloved swing scene icons: Mr. Dean Mora, leader of that
unparalleled dance orchestra, Mora's Modern Rhythmists! Loads of local swing
celebrities will be on hand to give performances and tributes to this great man of
music, and Rusty and Peter will be among those present!
Rusty & Peter will be tap dancing!
Rusty and Peter will be performing a song-and-tap dance number to the Bill Elliott
song, "Swing Fever" with none other than Mr. Bill Elliott himself providing the
piano accompaniment! Rusty and Peter have only performed this number ONCE
before, nearly two years ago, so this is a great chance to see them doing a fresh
routine!!! Lively singing and great tap dancing from Rusty and Peter with the
incredible Bill Elliott on the keys...what more could you ask for?
AT THE RICHMOND STREET FAIR IN EL SEGUNDO!
SATURDAY, SEPT. 28TH
LBS DANCERS TO PERFORM ON STAGE FROM 1:00-3:15!!
WE NEED YOUR HELP STAFFING OUR BOOTH!!
We are excited to tell you all that Lindy By The Sea will be having a booth at the
upcoming Richmond Street Fair in El Segundo coming up on Saturday, September
28th! And we are even more happy to report that we will be doing some
performances at the nearby stage as well! The Fair is an annual event in El
Segundo where local merchants get together and have a good old-fashioned time
with lots of arts, crafts, activities, food, and much more! We will have a booth
there so we can tell everyone about the great swing dancing to be had in the South
(Did we say that already????) We could especially use any early birds... we'll be setting up at 8:30am at the 100 block of Richmond Street. We would also like to ask for help from anyone who is able...we'll be there pretty
much the whole day, and we'd like to invite anyone along to help us run the booth
and give away flyers...generally show off some smiling faces for all to see!!! Give us a call at 310/606-5606 so we can put together a schedule. THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!
(Now, we're sure we said something about that!!) Is there anyone who has a couple of folding chairs we could use in the booth???? And is there anyone who has a battery operated TV/VCR (then we could show cool swing videos!!!). THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!
LAST PERFORMANCE CLASS OF 2002!
Our new series of classes begin September 29th
If any of you would like to have a private swing dance lesson, give Rusty a call at 310.606.5606.

*Wondering what the heck a "gate" is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer or swing music enthusiast).
