LINDY BY THE SEA GROUP CLASSES AND
Wednesday, March 25, 2020
Dear Dance Community,
As of March 20, 2020, Gov. Gavin Newsom has put all of California on a "Safer At Home" restriction.
On March 12th, I made the following decisions:
1. Rusty's dances are on hiatus until the COVID19 spread ends.
2. Lindy by the Sea group classes are on hiatus until the COVID19 spread ends
(All series cards are good for one year, anyway, so you'll all have your class credits).
3. Online classes via Zoom will be available
(check our homepage for announcements)
UNTIL WE CAN DANCE TOGETHER AGAIN, BRING US INTO YOUR HOMEWITH OUR DIGITAL DOWNLOAD LESSONS:
"DANCING ALONE TOGETHER"
FOR HEALTH, EXERCISE, MENTAL HEALTH, HAPPINESS!
I know that dancing together is one of the things we do that keeps us sane during trying times. To make a choice not to partner dance is mighty.
I can't believe it was just February 12, 2020, when my class sent an encouraging video to the Lindy Hoppers in China who were then "dancing alone together"... and now we are in the same situation all around the world.
SOCIAL DISTANCE DOESN'T MEAN SOCIAL ISOLATE
We must all social distance. But this doesn't mean social isolate! I live alone, and I have to tell you that staying in touch with friends and family is making all the difference (and, of course, Buddy The Wonder Dog and Bigsie The Enormo are tremendous help!). So let's join together in our own abodes and dance!
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR
This message from Gov. Newsom really puts everything into perspective for me, and I hope it does for you, too:
"Each of us has extraordinary power to slow the spread of this disease. Not holding that concert or community event can have cascading effects... The people in our lives who are most at risk - seniors and those with underlying health conditions - are depending on all of us to make the right choice."
I also love this quote from Bend The Arc:
"We are reminded that we do not choose the historic moment we live in, but we do get to choose how we respond. Every neighbor we help...every act of social distancing is an act of love."
WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS "TOGETHER"
The bottom line is we can get through this together. And, I agree with Gov. Newsom, let's watch out for the most vulnerable in our society and make sure they have the resources they need at this time.
Meanwhile, remember, you can keep swing dancing in your life with our virtual Zoom classes and Youtube (it's a veritable rabbit hole), and you can get our instructional videos and practice at home: RUSTY'S SHOP
I want to thank you all for your understanding, care, and concern,
Let's hope we can meet very soon.
Now, go wash your hands, and don't touch your face!
Stay Healthy, and see you soon
And one more thing...
And listen to our Italian grandma... she really knows!
And... here is a wonderful list of what you can do while our dances are on hiatus:
